James Corden’s opening Grammy Awards monologue fails to launch

The 59th Grammy Awards – Queen B vs The A Bomb.

Hosted by fellow Brit, James Corden at the Staples Center, LA on Feb 12th, the event proved to be … eventful at the least.

Now I run a live event every year and you can bank on small teething problems, however this international event with over 26 million viewers certainly had its fair share of cock-ups! (Check out the full video on YouTube).

As soon as the nominations were released the tongues started wagging, it was crystal clear the race was between Adele and Beyonce.

Adele received 5 nominations winning all 5

Beyonce received a whopping 9, winning 2

Being the gracious gal that she is, Adele emotionally dedicated her “Album Of The Year” award to B.

BIGGEST FAIL: James Corden’s opening monologue. Failure to launch is all I can say, however being the super talented guy that he is, he saved it in the end!
MOST RANDOM COLLABORATION: Metallica and Lady Gaga. Gaga was on top form, but due to microphone issues the performance felt awkward.
BEST VOCAL: Bruno Mar’s Tribute to the late Prince. This man has no limits… you have to check it out!
TISSUES AT THE READY: Adele’s tribute to the late George Michael. In true Adele style, she asked, live on TV to start again because the performance didn’t feel right to her. * Tip Bit – George’s family gave permission only to Adele to construct a fitting tribute to the great musician.
SWOON MOMENT: Twenty One Pilots accepting the award for “Best Pop Duo” in just their pants!

SPOTTED

I was on my way to New York last week for a mini break with my gals, swanning through Terminal 5 and a very animated young lady invited us to be checked in VIP, of course we followed with wide eyes (thinking free UPGRADE!) We then met a lovely “chatty Cathy” who asked us a bunch of questions about our trip. Now, my friends started giggling and asking if I recognised the BA staff member… erm no I didn’t, then after a few moments I realised, its only blooming EMMA BUNTON from the SPICE GIRLS!  Undercover Comic Relief prank apparently! Gutted, because I found out Tom Daley and David Walliams were there moments earlier!

TRUMPED OUT!

Super awkward! Sheltering from a blizzard in the entrance of Trump Towers in NYC and being ordered to MOVE ON by machine-gun-clad officers!

Coming next week: Movie releases, music, celebrity spotting in Benidorm

I have been living in Benidorm for the last ten years, having tried my hand at many things from karaoke host to radio presenter I finally found my true place in this wonderful and diverse seaside town! I currently manage a fabulous bar in the Old Town, called Sensations, and guest DJ at People’s Night Club. On top of that, I am very proud to be a part of the committee that are responsible for Benidorm Pride, taking charge of the entertainment and staging of this wicked event!
