Archivist required in Javea


THE CITY of Javea are looking to hire a municipal archivist.

Applicants must be graduates of Information and Documentation, History or another relevant subject.

Councillor for Culture, Quico Moragues, has expressed his satisfaction that the City Council are finally recruiting for this position – so far, it has been the staff of the Library and various scholars who have organised all the historical material belonging to the municipality, dating as far back as the 30s to present day.

Moragues considers it a great improvement to have a specialist dedicating 100 per cent of their time to organising and digitalising all these documents, as well as giving advice to those who need it.

To this end, in the historical archives headquarters (in the municipal building on Carrer d’Avall where Las Oficinas de Urbanismo used to be), in addition to the archivist’s office, there will also be a room for members of the public to meet with the archivist.

The most recent documents of the municipality that are not yet old enough to be catalogued as historical will be kept in the rooms in the building of the Portal del Clot until their time comes to be archived.
