Elche gearing up for a long run

ELCHE is getting ready to welcome runners this Saturday 11 of March for the Transilicitana, a competitive run where participants are expected to cover, either by walking or running, a 104 kilometre route in 24 hours.

The eight Transilicitana event will start at 10am from el Paseo de la Estación in the centre of Elche, and finish at Traspalacio, in front of the Museum of Archaeology and History. 750 participants are expected to participate in the event.

The route will take participants all the way to El Altet and the sea front at Los Arenales del Sol, before turning back towards Elche and the final destination. It will be a real test for endurance for all the runners, who are expected to take on the challenging route through the day and the night.
