Elche inaugurates the new R2 bus route

THE NEW bus route of the R2 service was launched this week in Elche. Buses on the line will now stop at Carrefour and Las Oficinas de Trafico.

The city councillors Esther Diez, Mireia Molla, Antonio Garcia and Felip Sanchez have been among the first passengers to open this new route, which has long been requested by locals.

‘Finally, after 34 years, the shopping centre has a bus service and we encourage all citizens to use the bus to travel around the city,’ said Mayor of Mobility, Esther Diez, who added that this is another initiative to encourage the use of public transport and to make Elche a European Green Capital by 2030.

The R2 service will no longer stop at the Cementerio Nuevo however a new service has been commissioned.

The CN service will stop at the Cementerio Nuevo. The CN service will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Sundays and public holidays.

‘We chose those days for the CN service which stops at Cementerio Nuevo to operate after detecting that they were the days when the service was required most’ said Esther Diez.
