Les Rotes cliff collapses

THE EFFECTS of storm-damage are not always instant, which nature proved on Tuesday in Denia.

At around midday, a stretch of approximately 20 metres of rock on the Les Rotes beach collapsed.

50 tonnes of the cliff face cracked and subsided, just a few metres from the restaurant El Pegoli. The road – which connects the beach and the promenade de les Rotes was not affected.

The storms have caused havoc along the Marina Alta coastline and rains have caused the land itself, which is still humid, to accumlate a lot of weight.

Police sealed off 50 linear metre area on Tuesday afternoon.
