Man caught mid-robbery in Elche

NATIONAL POLICE arrested a man on suspicion of robbery of a house in Altabix, Elche last week.

The offender, of Spanish nationality, received a shock after climbing a wall of the house and running straight into the owners, who alerted 091.

The offender initially tried to flee on a bicycle belonging to the owners after cutting through part of a metal fence. In desperation, he left the bicycle behind and escaped on foot.

The owners provided a physical description to 091 along with a guide as to which direction the offender had headed in.

Police attended the property and the offender was later located by the Grupo de Atención al Ciudadano in an area notoriously frequented by drug addicts.

The offender was taken to the Police Station and later charged with attempted robbery with forced entry.
