Prestigious cancer doctor hosts conference in Javea

ANNA LLUCH, prestigious scientist and specialist oncologist, is hosting a conference on Friday in Javea.

Anna will discuss ‘personalised medicine’, a new approach in the treatment of breast cancer.

Anna heads up the Hematology and Oncology department at the Hospital Clínic Universitari de Valencia.

A medical professor since 1986, she has worked as a guest researcher at the Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan, the Experimental Biology Laboratory and the MD Anderson Cancer Center Hospital in Houston.

Anna is a member of the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology, of which she has been a member of the Board of Directors, the European Society for Medical Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Vice President of the Spanish Society of Senology and member of the Foundation of Mastologics studies.

She has served as an advisor to the Breast Cancer Early Diagnosis Program of the Valencian Community, has been a member of the Advisory Committee of the Cancer Plan and was a member of the Advisory Committee of the Hereditary Cancer Program in Valencia.

Anna is also a researcher at the Research Foundation of the Clinical Hospital and member of the ECO Foundation (Excellence and Quality of Oncology) and is a member of the Breast Cancer Clinical Research Unit of the National Center for Oncological Research .

Her career in the research and treatment of breast cancer has earned her several awards:

  • 2014 Medal of the University of Valencia
  • 2013 Evap / BPW Award, of the Association of Businesspeople and Professionals of Valencia
  • Press Health and Society, the Conselleria de Sanidad
  • 2010 High Distinction of the Generalitat Valenciana to the Scientific Merit
  • 2007 Isabel Ferrer Award from the Department of Social Welfare

She has published over 200 scientific articles in national and international journals, wrote for the 1999 book Breast Cancer and is recognised as a ‘Google Scholar’.

The conference, organised by Asociacion Meridia Zero in collaboration with the Department of Culture, is open to all and will take place at 8.00pm in the Multipurpose Room of the Portal del Clot.
