Time to spring into cleaning

NOT THAT you would know it after last weekend’s dip in temperatures on the Costa Blanca, (they actually had snow in Madrid ), but at last, the clocks have gone forward and Spring has officially arrived.

It’s been a long, cold, Winter, with some of the worst weather conditions in living memory at times, so you can forgive yourselves for not being as house proud normal over the last few months.
But with the warmer weather fast approaching, also comes the urge, or perhaps that should be necessity, to organise, unclutter and scrub your home from top to bottom, or from side to side, if you live in an apartment or bungalow.
The key to making spring cleaning a little less daunting is to double check you have all the essential tools before you begin. Here’s a shopping list of the necessities you shouldn’t be without when embarking on a Kim and Aggie, How Clean is Your House mission.

Multi purpose cleaner
For every stubborn work surface, cupboard, or ceramic stain, you’ll need a solution or spray that does the lot.
Washing up liquid
Whether it’s for your sink full of dirty dishes, or mixed with a little water for washing the floors, you won’t want to kick off cleaning without it.
Furniture polish
Make your coffee table shine again.
Bathroom cleaner
Your tiling might have looked like new once upon a time, and with a little elbow grease it can again. Try using a bleach pen for stubborn mould and mildew.
Glass cleaner
Remind yourself what a smudge-free reflection looks like.
Baking soda
Easiest task yet: place a box in the fridge to absorb food odours instantly.
Magic Eraser
The true spring cleaning secret weapon. Makes all your white goods and surfaces as good as new again

Microfibre cloths:
Dust doesn’t stand a chance.
For the floors, you’ll need a full size option, but use a hand held Dustbuster for those hard to reach corners. Now, if you’re really feeling plain lazy or you like your gadgets, try a robot vacuum that does the work for you whilst you watch your favourite soap on TV.
Mud stains and dirty paw prints ( animal and human ) will be a thing of the past.
A new broom sweeps clean as they say, so invest in a new head brush.
An essential for mopping, or for simply stashing your supplies to make it easier to move from room to room.
Of every size and shape are a necessity
Empty spray bottle
If you’re a DIY diva, these are a must for mixing your own cleaners.
Rubber gloves
Preferably pink for maximum visibility to your neighbours
Toilet brush
Not the most pleasant task, but certainly a necessary one. After all, it’s a dirty job, but someone’s got to do it
Fans, shelves, blinds, it does it all.
Trash bags
You can’t have too many of them

Now that you’ve garnered your arsenal of supplies, it’s time to turn over every sofa cushion and table and address all the dusty corners you’ve been ignoring since the clocks went back last October.

Imagine the reward as you sit in the evening sun, sipping a Gin and Tonic, needing to wear shades to hide the shine coming from your sparkling surfaces.
