Calpe tourism up 16.82 per cent on last Easter

THE DEPARTMENT of Tourism of Calpe is already analysing data recorded across the Easter period, primarily finding that visits to the Tourist Information Offices increased by 16.82 per cent on last year.

By nationality, there is a strong increase in visits from the United Kingdom, France and Belgium – whose tourists have doubled their visits to the Tourist Information Offices compared to 2016.

This increase does not occur across the German tourist figures, which remain the same as last year.

Councillor for Tourism, Jan Van Parijs, maintains that ‘the data recorded allows effective analysis to be made – the growing trend of British tourism is maintained despite Brexit, German tourism remains stagnant and despite the general belief that the tourists received across the Easter period are mainly of Spanish nationality, foreign tourism is also increasing across these dates.’
