AN advice session for elderly residents in Finestrat will be held next week on Wednesday, April 26.
The session, organised by the Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with the Guardia Civil is part of the ‘Plan Mayor Seguridad’ initiative.
‘Our elders are a very vulnerable group that needs special protection,’ said Councilor for Social Welfare, Maria Llorca.
‘That is why it is so important to host this advice session, providing guidelines – easy to apply in their daily lives – to prevent them from falling victim to any type of crime.’
Advice provided in the session will correspond to different aspects of daily life such as how to stay safe at home, as a pedestrian, when travelling, when visiting the bank or when using the internet.
To allow as many residents as posible to attend, depending on their location, the session will be held in the Centro Multiusos de la Cala at 6.00pm and repeated in the Casa de Cultura at 7.30pm.
The session will also provide advice on what residents should do if they find themselves a victim of crime. In this regard, the Department of Social Welfare and the Guardia Civil recommend residents take note of the contact numbers of the National Police (091) and the Guardia Civil (062) and keep them somewhere safe should they ever be required.
