THE historic centre of Calpe will play host to an exciting craft fair this weekend.
Taking place between Plaza de la Villa and Plaza Reverendo Penalva from Friday through to Monday, 31 stalls will be set up by local craftsmen who will exhibit their goods and hold workshops for the public to get involved in.
Works with felt, carved stone, silver jewellery, crystal figures and insect-shaped wire lamps are just a few of the crafts which will be displayed and members of the public can get their hands dirty modelling mud, manufacturing toys and learning how to make bowls with winches, amongst much more.
Fresh cheese will be made throughout the day and the traditional Valencian ‘arrop i tallaetes’ will be served.
For children, in addition to the workshops, there will be table games to get involved in and a Ferris wheel.
Acrobats will be performing each day and a fire show will close the fair each evening.
The craft fair has been organised by Amata, an association established over 20 years ago to encourage both traditional and modern crafts in the community.
The fair will be open each day from 11.00am – 10.00pm except on Friday, when it will open at 6.00pm and Monday, when it will open at 2.00pm.
