NATIONAL POLICE officers working undercover, arrested a man suspected of selling and trafficking drugs, earlier this week in Cartagena city centre.
The arrest took place around five o’clock in the afternoon at an apartment situated inside a block on the Avenida de Americas close to the main railway station.
The suspect had been under surveillance for some time and officers had been monitoring his activities closely. He was familiar to them as he was already on parole for committing previous drugs offences.
A National Police spokesman told the Spanish press that during the raid conducted by agents from the Narcotics and Citizen Security units, the officers uncovered several obvious packages of cocaine in rock form plus marijuana and hashish.
The suspect was transferred to the police station and later arrested under charges of drug trafficking and buying and selling of illegal substances.
The offending evidence was confiscated and will be presented to the judge, when the case comes to court.
