ART AND Sculpture lovers in Alfas del Pi are in for a treat as famous Dutch artist Fredy E. Wubben has an exhibition in the town’s Casa De Culture up until Tuesday April 18.
The exhibition of paintings and glass work are based on the relativity of life, but also place emphasis on its continuity, fluidity and displacement. In short, a poetic interpretation of life.
Fredy E. Wubben was born in Holland and studied at the Free Academy in The Hague.
Throughout his long artistic career he has won numerous awards in his home country, including the Talens Award for Painting (1954, Amsterdam) and the Geert Bouwmeester Artprice (Gouda, 1977).
His work arises from the perplexity and duality of life. His pieces show a constant interaction between appearance and reality and the contrast between figurative and abstraction.
He is famous for perfectly combining the fragility sublety and delicate nature of glass with other harder, more inaccessible materials, such as natural wood, iron and bronze to create art pieces of depth and intensity.
Fredy’s work is currently present in international collections from Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Switzerland, Spain and the United States, among other countries.
The exhibition can be viewed in Alfas del Pi Casa De Cultura from Monday to Friday, from 10:00am to 6:00pm and Saturdays, from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
