Future chefs enjoy the ‘Kitchen of Smiles’

PIZZAS, PASTAS, omelettes, salads and even an Easter Bunny were on the menu, when 40 Alicante children joined the ‘Kitchen of Smiles’ cookery school last week.

Under the supervision of chef and director of the school, Centro de Recursos de Consumo, Daniel Reina, the children aged between 8 and 12, learned techniques such as how to boil an egg and make a macaroni dish.

‘’In addition to learning to make some dishes, we tried to teach them to eat better and to introduce vegetables to them,” said the director. Adding that for many of them, it was their first contact with a cooking stove.

The students gathered in the central market last Wednesday to be presented with their diplomas by Mayor Gabriel Echavarri.
