LAST WEEK saw school children from Javea participating in the annual ‘Culinart’ intiative, organised by the Department of Education combining both healthy cooking and artistic workshops.
The initiative – in its third year – was coordinated by Beatriz Rico with collaboration from local chefs Josep Codina and Quique Garcia.
This year, the motto was ‘Play Fish’ and students participated in a masterclass in which they learnt to prepare a fish and fruit ceviche and the art of gyotaku (stamping of fish with ink).
Municipal archaeologist, Ximo Bolufer also walked the students through the history of the Cova del barranc de Migdia in the Soler Blasco Museum.
Some of the workshops even proved popular with those a little older than school age, as Councillor for Education, Montse Villaverde and Javea Mayor, Jose Chulvi also attended.
