La Manga road widening project progressing on schedule

A €2.4 MILLION  road widening and resurfacing programme close to La Manga on the southern section of the Mar Menor is progressing well and should be complete by the scheduled finish date in October.

Work on the section between KM 4 and KM 8 of the RM-314 road on the junction with the RM-12, La Manga dual carriageway to Atamaria sees over 4,000 vehicles daily and over 1.5 million journeys every year and is seen by Regional Government as vital to the economy of the area.

Projected work includes the creation of four new roundabouts, widening of cycle lanes, and the installation of 2 metre wide pavements to ensure the safety of pedestrians.

The road widening will increase the width of the road by five metres from its current width of 6 metres to a new maximum of 11 metres.
