THE MUNICIPALITY of Tormos was in mourning over the Easter weekend after mayor Vicente Javier Ripoll suffered a fatal heart attack last Thursday.
Ripoll – who was only 50-years-old – went to work in his orange grove on Thursday morning and after he did not return for lunch, his two daughters went to look for him and found him laid motionless on the ground.
His daughters alerted the emergency services but sadly, the SAMU ambulance pronounced him dead at the scene.
Ripoll was the mayor of Tormos – a small Marina Alta town with just 300 inhabitants – since 2007 and was in his third term in office.
He leaves behind his wife and two daughters.
