ON THURSDAY April 6, the Viva Espana restaurant in Oliva played host to a quiz lunch – organised by Oliva La Safor Lodge for their members and guests – to raise funds for the Gandia Men’s Refuge.
The event was very well attended, with almost 50 people congregating for what was a much-enjoyed afternoon.
Several members gave very generously to the Gandia Men’s Refuge. Contributions to the collection included clothes, food and items for hygiene purposes.
In addition to the collection, there were some excellent prizes to be won on the grand charity raffle, which raised €195.
The Worshipful Master, Worshipful Brother Ian Skipper has chosen several charitable causes which he wishes the Lodge to support this year, one of which is to sponsor at least one underprivileged child (and hopefully more) to attend the Masonic summer school. Last year the Province as a whole sponsored eighteen children and hopes to sponsor at the same amount, at least, this year.
The quiz itself – organised by WBro Mike Botten – wasn’t as easy as some had first expected. The winners were delighted with their triumph and all agreed that the Lodge will hold similar events more often.
