OF THE Municipal Budget for 2017, the Council of Pedreguer has allocated a total of €105,342 to its local associations.
Pedreguer has been recognised at regional level for its efforts and the Council hopes that the initiative will encourage the local associations to the benefit of its residents and neighbours. The associations granted funds include cultural (€66,300) and social (€9,100) groups, sports teams (€19,052) and non-profit organisations (approx. €11,000).
The funds are designed to provide material resources, pay for the hiring of physical space and for member benefits such as Trail parking.
Mayor of Pedreguer Sergi Ferrus, in presenting the initiative said ‘the dynamism of the associations of the people of Pedreguer is distinctive and should be preserved as a sign of vitality, solidarity and civic involvement.’
‘Therefore,’ he added, ‘whilst the city has allocated more than €100,000 to support the associations – a considerable amount – this is perfectly reasonable when you consider the large number of activities and campaigns the associations of Pedreguer develop throughout the year.’
