St George’s day charity curry ‘cook off’ at the White Swan

STAFF AND customers of the White Swan Bar in Palma de Gandia, raised nearly 1500 euros for charity last Sunday and celebrated the most English of days by eating the nation’s favourite dish… curry!

Their St George’s Day Curry ‘Cook Off’ attracted numerous customers who came along to cook their favourite curry, which other guests subsequently bought and consumed, with all proceeds going to help cancer sufferers.

The prize for the best curry went to Don ‘Curry King’ Bartram of Villalonga.

The event was a huge success, raising a staggering 1480€ on the day, which was presented to Jacqelyne Phillips, president of the MABS Cancer Support Charity.

Organisers of the event would like to express their extreme gratitude to everyone involved in making the day so successful.

The team of helpers who made this event possible; the musicians, who all gave their time for free; the volunteers who gave their time and expertise to make the delicious desserts; Katmandhu Restaurant, Denia for supplying the flavoursome side dishes and to the numerous people who all donated raffle prizes.
