LA POSADA´S bowls club have completed a competitive tour of the Algarve.
Based in Praia da Rocha, near Portimao, the group played four matches against local Clubs.
Kicking off against Tavira B.C., the team lost all six rinks, playing on a grass green they were unused to. Not dampening their spirits however, La Posada say they had a great morning´s bowling, against a friendly team, followed by an excellent lunch.
Faring better in their next match, against Alvor B.C., again on a grass green, La Posada won one rink, losing the other five, but with higher scores than in their previous match. The two clubs spent an enjoyable afternoon having a barbeque together.
Their third match in Almancil against Valverde B.C. Playing on another grass green, La Posada showed signs of improvement, wining two out of the six rinks, before enjoying a team lunch.
The team´s final match saw them battle Floresta B.C. in Praia da Luz. Back on a carpet surface, the team fared better, wining two rinks, and drawing one out of the six played. La Posada were impressed with Floresta´s glass-like surface, commenting it was even smoother than their home green, with 26 bowls ending up in the ditch.
The week´s highlight was a presentation evening at a country restaurant. The food kept coming and the wine flowed freely, with the team singing and dancing until the early hours.
