IN LESS than two hours, members and friends of The Royal British Legion (RBL) Mollina branch raised over €250 for this year’s Poppy Appeal and recruited two new members.
Auctioneer extraordinaire Tony Burns sold items ranging from computer inks to loaves of Portuguese bread and volunteers donated bric-a-brac and second hand clothes and books.
The cake stall was particularly popular with one member (Heather Grey) having to take advance orders for her cheese scones!
Barbara Punshon, Social Secretary said – ‘this is a tremendous effort and I hope people give as much support to our next event on May 23 – a ‘Day at the Races’ with a twist.’
The ‘Day at the Races’ will be hosted at Parque la Vina Mollina from 11.00am and in addition to the races, guests can try their luck on the raffle and the football card.
RBL Mollina invite everyone along the join in the festivities.
Membership of the Royal British Legion is open to all, regardless of service in the armed forces. For an application form, get in touch with Tom Mcleen – firstname.lastname@example.org.
