JAVEA’S ORIGINAL Charity Shop’s ‘Girl Power’ Mirador Challenge team hiked the 29 kilometres along the wonderful coastline of Javea last month.
Beginning in the early morning at the Granadella mirador, the ladies then passed along the coast in a northward direction to arrive at the last viewpoint of ‘Els Molins’, the iconic windmills which sit above the town of Javea and afford stunning views all the way back to the start-point.
The team set out hoping to raise €2,000 for Make A Smile…
Along the Arenal, the ladies were cheered on by staff members from the shop and President Georgie Harvey and Treasurer Sylvia Jackson took great pleasure in presenting them with a cheque for €1,000.
Generous sponsorship from friends and family brought the team’s total up to an astonishing amount of €3,100!
Some of the money will be invested in the Relleu Self Sufficiency Project and the Arts and Crafts Unit which provides occupational therapy for 24 mentally challenged youngsters.
The farm near Relleu holds regular open days where you can visit the Self Sufficiency Project and enjoy a delicious lunch.
Veggie boxes, eggs and olive oil are also on sale and you can even sponsor an olive tree.
All these activities help with the running costs of the home. For more information, check out www.makeasmile.es.
