THREE Germans have been killed after their small aircraft crashed in the Sierra Tejeda above Alcaucin, killing all those on board.
The three were in the penultimate stage of an air rally when they lost contact with air traffic control over Nerja. Agents initially checked whether the plane had landed in Granada, as expected, but despatched rescue workers when they found it had not.
Workers eventually found the wreckage in the Los Pradillos area, at around 1600 metres above sea level, using
Guardia Civil helicopters normally used to extinguish forest fires.
The victims have not yet been named and investigators are now working to ascertain the cause of the accident.
