MEMBERS OF the Moraira-Teulada U3A extend their greatest thanks to all who participated in the first annual International Walking Football Tournament on April 21, hosting two teams from Manchester, three from Costa Blanca South and three from Costa Blanca North.
It was a fiercely contested final, Moraira A beat Playa Flamenca on penalties, after a close 2-2 draw in normal time. A great result as the Flamenca’s were unbeaten for three years and were determined to defend their record at all costs.
Hero of the day was Moraira A goalkeeper Alan Gibb, who saved a few penalties, scored a penalty and then, finally, saved a penalty from Flamenca’s goalkeeper to win the game.
Alan’s wife Yvonne couldn’t watch as the shoot-out progressed!
A large crowd turned out in support of the event organised by Chris Dry and members of the Moraira-Teulada U3A also extend their thanks to Net Connect who kindly supplied all of the silverware for the tournament.
Moraira-Teulada hold an ‘open to all’ weekly meeting on a Thursday morning. For more information, please get in touch with Chris Dry – email@example.com.
