Party time

CARTAMA is counting down to its annual San Isidro the Labourer festival from 12 to 15 May.

The event, which begins at noon on 12 May, kicks off with fireworks and a fair where there will be free sausage tasting. The afternoon’s entertainment will see adults enjoy an opera, while little ones can take part in a dance school.

Saturday 13 May will see the town’s roads decked out in the annual street beautification contest, with an awards ceremony in the evening.

Those attending Sunday’s events can take part in the pilgrimage of San Isidro, which will see 50 floats accompany an icon of the saint to the Guadalhorce river. After taking in the walk, festival-goers can dance the night away to live performances offering the best of music from the 80s and 90s.
