THE CITY of Calpe has made amendments to its noise-pollution regulations to guarantee the rest of both residents and tourists during the high season.
The regulations already govern the use of heavy machinery during the summer season, however changes will prohibit all construction/ building works throughout the municipality between August 1 and August 31.
After August, between September 1 and September 15, all construction/ building works throughout the municipality, whether public or private, should be carried out between 9.00am and 2.00pm and again between 5.00pm and 8.00pm, allowing for afternoon siestas.
Works of public interest – required for reasons of necessity or safety – will be exempt from the regulations.
The council provides clarification on the different activities considered to cause noise-pollution as well as advice on how to minimise their effects and appeals to all members of the community to familiarise themselves with the regulations to allow the high season to pass as smoothly as possible.
