San Miguel Golf Society take a mystery tour


THIRTY FIVE members and four guests made the trek North to Alicante Golf last week, a trip that is often referred to as ‘ the mystery treasure hunt’ with the ultimate treasure being the actual golf course, found in the most unlikely setting.

However, plenty of sunshine and a welcome light breeze helped to make the conditions perfect on a fantastic course prepared by Alicante Golf.

Prize-winners on the day were: Best guest was Phil Bache with a very respectable 36 points.
Nearest the pins on the six par 3’s were – Bjorn Pettersson (3 & 6), Mike Inns (8), Chris Hamblett (12), Tony Smale (15) & Norman McBride (17).
BRONZE Category: 5th Norman McBride (30), 4th Chris Hamblett (31), 3rd Michael Inns (33), 2nd Marg Birtwistle (35) & 1st Brian Mulligan (38).
SILVER Category: 5th William Fenn (29), 4th Paul Tomlinson (30), 3rd Ken Flaherty (32 c/b), 2nd Phil de Lacy (32 c/b) & 1st Steve Davis (34).
GOLD Category: 5th Robin Eastman (34 c/b), 4th Steve Higgins (35 c/b) 3rd Eva Pettersson (35 c/b), 2nd Bjorn Pettersson (36) & 1st Ivor Turkington (37).
El Capitan, Theo Boelhouwer, won an excellent Riojas the weekly “Abacus Prize” (Last runner up).
