Second plane crash in a week

THE COSTA DEL SOL has seen its second air crash in just one week after a plane belonging to a pilot school smashed through a fence at the end of a runway in Velez Malaga, almost ending up in a riverbed.

The plane, which was carrying three people onboard, was travelling from Malaga to San Javier in Murcia when it made a stop at El Trapiche airfield in Velez Malaga. For reasons as yet unknown the plane did not stop on the runway after landing, instead hurtling through a fence.

Those on board were unharmed although the plane suffered damage.

The crash is the second in the Costa del Sol in one week after three Germans were killed when their light aircraft came down in the hills above Alcaucin while participating in an air rally.

The plane was travelling to Granada when it veered off-course and came down over the mountains. Investigators are now trying to pin down the exact cause of the crash.

Two others were also killed on January 19 this year after their plans crashed after take-off in Velez Malaga and exploded in an avocado farm.
