A YOUNG boy has died in hospital after falling into a pool in the Costa del Sol’s Rincon de la Victoria.

The toddler, whose death has now been confirmed by Malaga’s Mother and Child Hospital, fell into the pool by accident while playing with relatives.

He was quickly pulled out and paramedics worked for an hour and half to resuscitate him before transferring him to hospital, where he was placed in intensive care in a critical condition. Despite the efforts of medical staff, however, he sadly died of his injuries.

The incident took place in the Serramar urbanisation in La Cala del Moral. Local Police and the Guardia Civil both attended the scene.

Another swimmer, a 60-year-old German woman, was also rescued over the weekend from a swimming pool in the Costa del Sol’s Torrox Costa’s Conejito area. The woman was transferred to Axarquia’s Comarcal Hospital and has recovered.
