Periana axe attacker jailed

A 47-YEAR-OLD man who allegedly hit his neighbour with an axe in Periana on the Costa del Sol has been jailed without bail ahead of his trial.

The man, known as Jose Manuel M.P., faces charges causing injury and property damage after his 24-year-old victim required five stitches to his head after their disagreement turned violent.

Jose Manuel is said to have axed his neighbour after insulting his mother, causing the 24-year-old to intervene.

It is said the two families have been involved in disputes for some years and that Guardia Civil officers broke up the assault without resistance.
