Benidorm BM handball club president targets Europe

NOW IN his seventh season as president of Benidorm BM handball club Javier Abinzano would love to see his team play in Europe.

The latest player to join the club is proof of what the chief aims to bring to the team.
Rojales born left-back Jose Antonio Calderón Serrano, who recently joined from Sinfín Santander, will provide defensive consistency to the team.

“We want important players playing outside to return to Alicante, and Calderón is an example of that,” says Abinzano.

The president appointed new coach Zupo Equisoain, last season with the club on the verge of relegation, but managed to stabilise the team and keep them up, “We were clear about what we wanted, he’s an experienced coach who knows what he’s doing and now we have to go up, “said Abinzano.

Last season, the fans got hooked in the final stretch of the season. “Every year we are going to do better, we want this campaign to have 1,500-2,000 people in the stands,” says Abinzano, very happy for the communion between fans and team.

In August, the team will play in an international tournament with the presence of top European teams in addition to some friendlies “The schedule has yet to be defined, but we will play a lot of friendly games to prepare the season well” said Abinzano.
