Boy falls into the Cova Tallada taking a selfie

A 15-year-old boy fell 10 feet into the Cova Tallada last weekend as he went to take a selfie and misjudged his footing.

He fell into the sea onto the rocks and is said to have fractured both of his wrists.

An off-duty policeman rushed to rescue the boy who was semi-conscious and in danger of drowning.

The man managed to carry the boy to safety and with no mobile-phone service in the Cova Tallada, he asked his sister, who he was out with for the day, to head back to the top of the footpath to find service and alert the emergency services.

The off-duty policeman and several friends sheltered the shivering boy with t-shirts and towels before the Red Cross arrived in a rescue boat and took him to Moll de la Pansa, where he was met by an ambulance.
