Choral sounds in Fuengirola

FUENGIROLA’S House of Culture is set to play host to the Virgen del Mar choral concert today at 8.30pm.

Rodrigo Romero, Councillor for Culture, spoke about the event alongside the Virgen del Mar choir director, Miguel Moreno.

Romero explained, “we are going to host a new performance of the Virgen del Mar choir at the House of Culture and it is always a pleasure to welcome this choir which has been going since 1980, always directed by Miguel Moreno, ensuring Fuengirola does not lose its choral traditions and the town keeps its beautiful music style.”

He went on to congratulate, “all members of this choir and particularly Miguel Moreno for continuing to bring, year after year, music to the lives of so many people who watch the Virgen del Mar choir.”

For his part, Moreno explained, “in this concert we want to inspire the audience, which in turn encourages us and makes us a sing a lot better.” He added, “we have a great programme scheduled, with traditional Andalucian songs and a section of Zarzuela, which will be accompanied by a piano teacher from the council.”

He concluded by encouraging, “all those who like music even just a little to come and join the Virgen del Mar choir, because we mainly need male voices. You do not need to be able to read music or have a very good voice, just the ability to listen, practise and learn.”
