Council allocates nearly half a million euros to summer schools

NEARLY 2,500 children from low-income families across Murcia will attend summer schools and camps this season.

The Council of Social Rights has allocated €426,000 to 58 schools and six camps which will be held throughout July.

Of the 58 summer schools, 37 have been organised by the City Council and the other 21 have been organised under the Caixa Proinfancia programme.

Councillor of Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz Caballero, said that 28 summer schools will have free cafeterias, an initiative costing €61,000 benefiting 980 children.

Direct support will also be given to low-income families who do not have access to a summer school with a cafeteria.
