€7.8 million for damaged Murcia fruit

0

AGROSEGURO HAS initiated the payment of indemnities to Murcian fruit growers whose crops were damaged in the early part of 2017.

The total of indemnities amount to €7.8 million.

Murcian fruit was affected by the adverse weather conditions the region experienced at the beginning of the year, especially the rainfall at the end of April.

Sources have indicated that over 5,000 hectares of fruit trees suffered.

Among the areas most affected were Rio Segura and the northeast and northwest.

90 per cent of the indemnities to be paid corresponds to peach trees (which includes peach, nectarine, Paraguayan and platerina) and apricot trees.
