Fugitive caught in Torremolinos

A SWISS fugitive has been arrested by the National Police in Torremolinos for identity theft and fraud.

The man was wanted for scamming money from bank accounts in Switzerland and Spain, as well as using a false identity and using someone else’s identity to take out credit cards in crimes going back to 2008.

He was initially arrested in Torremolinos in 2010 but used a day pass to escape prison and fled. The National Police caught up with him after coordinating with the Swiss Police through the European Network of Active Fugitive Search Teams, an international police channel which allows information to be exchanged.
