GIANT MSC Cruises on Saturday welcomed its new giant, MSC Meraviglia (pronounced “mehr-ah-vee-ya”, meaning wonder), with a star-studded christening ceremony in Le Havre, France.

The ship is the biggest ever built by a European-based cruise line and boasts an array of phenomenal facilities that will keep everyone entertained throughout their entire journey at sea.

Designed for all seasons, the ship comes along with a 10 metres indoor pool with a magrodome that can be opened when the ship is in port or the weather allows for it.

The about 25 metres long main pool, inspired by the cool vibes of Miami’s South Beach, provides the most generous poolside space at sea. Illuminated with special lighting by night, it becomes a stunning outdoor spot for entertainment and dancing.

Social centre and focal point for a broad range of leisure activities will be the Mediterranean-style indoor promenade featuring the longest LED Dome at sea (80 metres) with stunning visuals and effects.

Passengers can take in the awe-inspiring atmosphere by strolling up and down, shopping in one of the boutiques, or simply sitting back while enjoying a delicious ice cream or crepes from the award-winning French chocolatier and pastry chef Jean Philippe Maury.

A choice of 12 distinct restaurants promises something special for every taste including a buffet restaurants that opens 20 hours a day, serving Mediterranean specialities and international cuisines. Fine dining options are the American-style steakhouse, the Kaito Sushi Bar and the Teppanyaki Restaurant.

A wide range of bars and lounges on board offer refreshment and relaxation. Exclusively on MSC Meraviglia, twice every night, six nights a week, guests will have the opportunity to see the world-class shows by Cirque du Soleil, the world leader in live artistic entertainment.

An impressive 17 different types of cabin are available to choose from when sailing onboard MSC Meraviglia, including family options, duplex suites with a private whirlpool bath, and the highest ratio of sea-view balcony staterooms of any cruise ship.

For the first time on any MSC ship, all the facilities for families, children and teens are in one place in an amusement park and children’s area. Young cruisers aged 3-11 years will love The LEGO Experience Onboard, whilst babies enjoy a larger Chicco area at the Mini Club and MSC Babycare.

The luxurious Balinese spa MSC Aurea will leave you feeling pampered from head to toe, offering signature relaxation treatments to revitalise body and soul, while the gym, equipped with state-of-the-art technogym cardio and strength-training equipment, provides a wide range of innovative fitness courses and training programs.

And there’s more! The huge open-air Aqua Park with three water slides, a splash pool and an adventurous “Himalayan Bridge” sky walk that allows passengers to cross the vessel nearly 200 feet above the water. An amusement area with race car and flight simulators, a 4D cinema and, for the first time at sea, a full-size bowling alley where guests can challenge friends and family to the last pin!

With all her extraordinary features, the MSC Meraviglia will be this summer’s ultimate destination in the Mediterranean where she will spend her inaugural season, operating seven-night voyages calling in Spain, Italy, Malta and France.
