MIJAS Council has launched a travel card campaign, designed to help locals and visitors save money on their public transport.
Nuria Rodriguez, Councillor for Transport, has presented a campaign to promote the use of the cards offered by the Transport Consortium of Malaga which provides economic savings on each trip.
She explained, “we have noticed locals do not generally have this card which offers significant reductions on trips over the course of a month. That is why we want to publicise it so that the people of Mijas not only use the card but also public transport, so that we save money and take care of the environment at the same time.”
The council has now places information posters and adverts around the town and in Mijas Comunicacion, letting locals know about the advantages of the card.
To apply for a card, which costs €1.80, those interested can apply at the Transport Department at the council. Card owners then must top up with a minimum of €5, which will be used to pay for discounted tickets on local public transport.
