Manhunt widened for wanted Brit after Costa Blanca stabbing

THE GUARDIA CIVIL have released a photograph of the man they want to interview in connection with the serious stabbing of a woman in Orihuela Costa.

The 53-year-old, British man, who  local sources named as David Grundy, worked as a taxi driver and has not been seen since the incident.

He is thought to have fled the crime scene, driving a grey Hyundai 110 saloon, belonging to British owners, heading towards the south of the province.

The victim, also British, identified by unconfirmed local sources as Nicola Anne Walker Houghton, 41, was found by her daughter at 9.00am last Tuesday, lying in a pool of blood with a large knife sticking out of her back.

The daughter immediately called emergency services to the house in Lomas de Don Juan, Campoamor that her mother shared with the missing man.

The victim was rushed to Torrevieja hospital in a critical condition and later underwent emergency surgery on the wound in the ICU department.

Latest reports suggest she is out of immediate danger and her condition remains critical but stabilized.

Meanwhile, Guardia Civil sources revealed they have widened the search for the British suspect beyond the immediate area, and have alerted ports and airports throughout the country.

It is unknown, whether the couple were permanent residents in Orihuela Costa, or regular visitors.
