Oliva U3A showcase success


WITH IN excess of 100 members present, Oliva U3A held its annual showcase event at the at the Centre Polivalent d’Oliva recently.

The event highlighted the organisation’s offering, with demonstrations from its various groups. Amongst the groups to present were the choir, the music group, the line dancers, the poetry group and the creative writers.

An award ceremony was held for members of the petanque and golf groups and the sequence dancers performed an outstanding routine. Mike Goy, President of Oliva U3A also presented a cheque for €500 to the President of the organisation’s chosen charity – the AECC Oliva.

The University of the Third Age is an international organisation whose aims are the education and stimulation of mainly retired members of the community—those in their third ‘age’ of life. It is commonly referred to as ‘U3A’.

With in excess of 500 members, the Oliva U3A boasts approximately 35 groups, from golf to history of art to line-dancing.
