Opposition calls for Torrevieja to clean up its act

THE POPULAR Party released a statement on Saturday detailing how they have submitted a motion to the plenary calling for an ‘urgent plan of integral shock, because of the lamentable state of cleanliness in Torrevieja.’

In the statement, they deem the current levels of cleanliness throughout the municipality to be ‘unacceptable’ and stress that they must be improved before the start of the high summer season.

The Popular Party have called for similar action on several occasions throughout the last two years but without success.

They say that the municipality is paying €13 million a year to a company which is still without a contract, to provide a service about which the Ayuntamiento receives complaints on a daily basis.
