TOMORROW Fuengirola will pay homage to its maritime trade and traditions with a themed party in the Virgen del Carmen neighbourhood from noon.
During the day there will be various free workshops and games as well as an art exhibition, sardine tasting and a musical performance.
The town’s council has decided to honour its seafaring origins with the event, which will appropriately take place in Plaza de los Marineros.
Isabel Moreno, Councillor for Citizen Participation, was responsible for organising the event, which is in its third year, explaining, “every year at the beginning of the summer season, we have a seafood party that is in the neighbourhood of Virgen del Carmen… with free sardine skewers and drinks,” adding, “there will be activities aimed at children with workshops on marine issues and a charanga musical performance, and at about 2pm we will start to distribute the sardine skewers, with more than 180 kilos of the fish on offer.”
She added she wanted to “invite everyone to attend this party on Saturday and we have passed around information cards to locals so they know when everything starts and enjoy a great day dancing to the charanga rhythm.”
