Second-time winner takes home Denia quick painting contest first prize


LA CONCURSO de Pintura Rapida Ciudad de Denia (translated to – ‘quick painting contest of Denia’) was held on Calle Marques de Campo last Sunday.

David Escarabajal Alcoyano came first for the second year running, taking home the €700 cash prize.

Alberto Marquez claimed second prize (€400 cash) and Miguel Mellado claimed third prize (€200 cash).

Jutta Kuenen was awarded the ‘best local artist’ prize, winning a trip to Formentera for two people and Fernando Segui was awarded the ‘best artist of the region’ prize, taking home a collection of paintings to the value of €100.

22 participants took part in the contest, coming from as far as Albacete, Bilbao and Murcia.

The five awarded works will be exhibited in the House of Culture of Denia from June 15 to 30, 2017.
