Slaughterhouse ceiling subsides – three men injured

THREE MEN were injured earlier this week as a ceiling collapsed at a slaughterhouse in Granja de Rocamora.

The men, aged 36, 42 and 68 were working on pipes in the ceiling of the building when it gave way beneath them, causing them to fall from a height of approximately 4 metres.

The incident occurred shortly after 10.30am on Calle la Huerta.

Policia Local officers arrived within minutes, followed by firefighters from Orihuela, Almoradi and Crevillent.

Firefighers worked together to remove the men from the building.

The men received medical attention at the scene and the two older men were rushed to hospital in Orihuela by SAMU ambulance having suffered multiple traumatic injuries.

The younger man suffered injuries to his knee, ankle and foot.
