Two arrested for impersonating driving test candidate

TWO MEN who attempted to take driving tests in another candidate’s name were arrested on the Costa Brava last week.

The first man was caught on Thursday in Sant Joan les Fonts, Girona when he produced his ID before taking the practical test and officers discovered it to be fake.

He was arrested, but the next day – Friday – a second man claiming to be the ‘real’ candidate arrived to take the exam and was also arrested.

Police say the second man was planning to take the test on behalf of his brother, who is 14 years older than him.

Substituting candidates in an exam is a criminal offence in Spain. Both men have been released with charges.
