Two more hikers rescued from the Montgo

DENIA FIREFIGHTERS were called out to a rescue operation on the Montgo on Tuesday as two Spanish hikers lost their way.

The women, both in their 50s, had started out on their hike at around 8.30am in the morning with a group of five Australian friends.

They soon fell behind the rest of the group and with no water to hand, were exhausted and had lost their way come 11.00am.

The women were on the slope that overlooks Plaça Justa de Xabia and after calling 112, were quickly located by a sergeant, a corporal and two firefighters who provided them with water and guided them down the Montgo to the Denia firing range.
