A SENIOR member of the Irish Kinahan cartel wanted in connection with the murder of Noel ‘Duck Egg’ Kirwan is believed to have fled to Spain.

Detectives are attempting to track down the gangster as they want to question him over the fatal shooting last December which is linked to the Irish Hutch/Kinahan feud.

The individual was a friend of David Byrne, who was shot to his death in the Regency Hotel in February of last year.

He also has close ties to Liam Byrne as well as cartel leader Daniel Kinahan and is one of the Kinahan cartel’s main Irish members.

The National Police of Ireland believe the criminal, aged in his early 30s, had a role in the dad-of-four’s murder and want to question him on his whereabouts on the night of the fatal shooting.

He is not suspected of being the trigger man.

Kirwan (62) was shot dead in front of his partner at their west Dublin home in Ireland on last Decemeber.

He was not involved in the ongoing Hutch/Kinahan feud and was considered a soft target.

The man wanted in relation to his murder is believed to have fled Ireland in recent weeks and the National Police of Ireland suspect that he is currently living under the radar in Spain.

Investigating detectives are also understood to have alerted their colleagues across Dublin in relation to this individual.

‘Gardai from other districts have been told to arrest this individual if he is sighted but he hasn’t been seen in Ireland in several weeks,; a source told the Irish press.

‘The likelihood is that he has fled to meet up with his other associates in Spain.’

The man National Police of Ireland want to question has previously survived an attempt on his life by the Hutch faction and has been involved in managing the organised crime gang’s finances.

The senior cartel member is also a target of the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) and his house has been raided on several occasions by the National Police of Ireland investigating the cartel’s proceeds of crime.

Murder victim Kirwan was shot as he sat in a car outside his home.

His partner, who was also in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, escaped unharmed.

Several shots were fired at the victim, including to his head, before the assailant ran to a waiting van, which had another man in the driver’s seat.

A white Peugeot Partner van was found burnt out a short distance away from the scene of the crime.

The National Police of Ireland have been investigating whether he was shot dead after attempting to mediate in a dispute between the Kinahan cartel and its own gangland banker.

Kirwan attempted to prevent the cartel from carrying out an attack on the banker – who also works for the Hutch mob.

Kirwan was a childhood friend of Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch and was a prominent anti-drugs campaigner in Dublin’s north inner city during the 1990s.
