TEN LUCKY young students from Mijas are set to take part in an exchange trip to Italy.
The scheme, which is part of the Erasmus + program, is funded by the EU, allowing young participants to experience a new country, staying in the city of Polpenazze del garda.
Tamara Vera, Councillor for Young People, has said the application process is now opening and accepting requests.
She explained, “after announcing an exchange to Germany last week, today we are offering a new opportunity for the young people of our town who are interested in interacting with those from other European countries.”
She added, “it is very important that we continue to offer young people our youth information and counselling service which supports programmes such as the Erasmus +.”
She explained the EU finances 100% of participants’ accommodation, food and activities during their stay, in addition to providing an allowance of around €275 per person. She added, “on this occasion the exchange will focus on the environment, at a conference in which participants will speak about and water resources, raising awareness about sustainability.”
Those interested in becoming part of the group of young beneficiaries of this program must be between 16 and 20 years old and can fill out the application form on europaerestu.eu until June 12.
To be able to take part, participants will have to attend a series of preparatory talks prior to the trip at the Youth Department in the Theatre of Las Lagunas, from Monday to Friday from 9am to 2pm.
Ms Vera commented, she wanted to “encourage all the town’s young people to get involved, follow us on social networks and to take advantage of the resources we offer.”
