Alicante kidnap attempt fails

NATIONAL POLICE in Alicante have arrested a man who was attempting to kidnap a young woman in Cabo de las Huertas.

The man apparently approached the 15-year old girl pretending to be lost and asked for an address.  As he did so, he grabbed her by the arm and dragged her into his car nearby, but she managed to escape after a while due to an oversight by her attempted captor.

She was in the car with her abductor until they reached the beach area of San Juan.  At this point, despite her being paralysed with fear, she waited until the car slowed right down and she managed to escape and raise the alarm with her parents.

Her father called 091 immediately and a rapid response vehicle was despatched to find the vehicle and the driver as soon as possible after the girl had given them a very detailed description.

Within 24 hours, the alleged abductor – a 32-year-old man – had been traced to the nearby town of Muchamiel and subsequently arrested.
